Overview:
Let’s make history exciting and rewarding for students. Helping our learners adapt information and find ways to apply and obtain it is a beautiful gift we can give them through strategic planning and enhanced teaching methods. This workshop is designed to enhance disciplinary strategies, process skills and techniques used by AP® U.S. history teachers to develop student content knowledge, promote critical thinking, social studies literacy and technical application skills around the following themes and concepts from periods between approximately 1491 to the present.

Learning Objectives

Participants Will:

  • Teachers will learn how to use a thematic learning objective/time period chart to facilitate lesson design and planning,
  • Design lesson plans, teaching strategies and other activity ideas to help students learn and obtain historical knowledge relevant to the AP® exam, and
  • Teachers will engage students in developing and refining the AP® history reasoning skills.
